Chase Freedom

I've had the Chase Card for many years and get 5% cash back on gas and 1% on Everything else. Unlike another reviewer my card is not subject to interest on the posting date. You still get a grace period from the posting date until the payment due date. I had the same concern about interest accruing from the post date but customer service explained that I was misreading the revised terms and conditions. Anyway for the types of purchases I make; gas, groceries, department store and some large ticket items like electronics, travel expenses, and household items, it is a good choice. Much better rebates than my Discover Card which promises high rebates but has annual resets and starts rebates at .25% until you reach purchase limits.

Most Attractive Feature: Cash is automatically credited to your account, no points
Least Attractive Feature: High interest rate - don't miss a payment

Chase Freedom Card

Easy to redeem 1% to 3% cash back on purchases. "Wave" and pay feature built in but not available everywhere.

The interest rate is wayyyyyyy higher than any other card I carry. Be sure to not carry a balance if you get a similiar high interest rate.

I use the card in place of using a debit card. I use it for gas purchases when I max out my 5% returns on my two other gas cards.

Squeaky is my hero.

Most Attractive Feature: 3% Cash back on gas and fast food
Least Attractive Feature: High Interest rates

Freedom Card

I just got this card about a month ago. I signed up because Chase offered me a 250 dollar check to do so. I made one purchase on the card and payed it off that night (online payment). The next day my credit line had DOUBLED. This seems like a great card = 3 percent cash back on gas and groceries and 1 percent on everything else. The interest rate is a killer though = 23.99%. That is actually more than 3x more than other cards I have. If you got this card I wouldnt reccomend leaving a balance or you are not really getting rewarded. I am going to call and see if they can lower the APR, if not I am going to cancel the card, at least I get the 250 dollars out of it.

Most Attractive Feature: Free 250 dollars upon sign up
Least Attractive Feature: the apr

Good while it lasted

I've had this card for years, since it was a Shell MasterCard. Never been late, no disputes, etc. Last month they tried to slip a Change In Terms past me which eliminates the grace period on purchases. All transactions after 1/1/07 will accrue interest from the nanosecond the charge is posted, just like a cash advance, even if there was no balance. Fortunately, we don't carry a balance, so we will just stop using the card. But I'm very glad I read all the bill stuffers. I called "customer service" to ask about this, and they said that my choices were to stop using the card or pay interest on everything. Sayonara, Chase.

Most Attractive Feature: The rebates
Least Attractive Feature: They just eliminated the grace period

lousy lousy lousy

I start out with a low FIXED interest rate that soon became a 29.49% rate. No amount of calling customer service to get a good reason for the increase did any good. Constant stonewalling. I am trying to pay off my card today but after fourty minutes of waiting twice on the phone for customer rep, I'm now going to try to pay it on line. Wish me luck.
