I love this card. By using the card to pay for Starwood hotel stays you earn a whopping 5 points!!!! One night at 100 dollars equals 500 points. Also with starwood you have the option of using cash and points to book your room. Once you get the card you are given 10,000 points with first purchase. (usually shows up within 5 weeks) So you have several ways to enjoy a good nights rest for less money. Purchase points showed up at the end of the billing cycle. My only complaint is the interest rate but if you pay all at the end of the month like the other amex cards its no problem. If you are a frequent traveler or just like hotel hopping, like myself, this is the card for you!!!!

Starwood Rules
Starwood program is by far superior. The hotels are wonderful. The customer service at Starwood is great. I have never been so "into" the benefits of a card.

Excellent Card
WOW! Where do I start.
My girlfriend and I took a vacation to Florida for 2 nights 3 days in Orlando, and 4 days 4 nights in Miami. I calculated the savings on hotels based on my everyday purchases to save up Starwood points and the % that the card paid back was about 4.6%. Incredible! Not only that, I had a limit of 5k initially that was auto-increased to 11K and now again increased to 16K with out any hard inquiries to my credit report!
I am extremely happy with this card. This card is certainly worth the $30 annual fee.

good card if you stay in starwood hotels
This seems to give a high return rate for the reward cards I've seen. You can stay for a night for about 3000 points -- which is 3000 dollars charged.
Some properties have a nightly charge (good, not rack rate) of $120-150 USD, so the return is over 5%.
The card sometimes has "bonuses" of 2x the number of points if you purchase a certain amount in a month -- this was a good deal when you could buy US Savings bonds on credit cards.
Starwood points are useful for the whol chain, with no blackouts. I'm very happy with how
both the American Express and starwood web sites work.
While the signup bonus is higher for many other hotel credit cards (you generally can get a free stay on holiday inn, marriott or hilton), the starwood card has higher rewards and a minimal annual fee (which pays if you use it -- I detest
annual fees but this is an exception).

Flexible Card
Overall this is a great combination: Starwood's Preferred Guest is a great hotel rewards program with flexibility in using points for hotel rewards or transfering to numerous airlines on a 1:1 basis. I've always been impressed with American Express' customer service. So, this card offers the combination of the two. The only downside of Preferred Guest is that Starwood doesn't have properties in as many locations as chains such as Hilton or Marriott.

Very Generous Rewards Program
I have been extremely pleased with the Starwood's credit card from AMEX. The Starwoods reward program is very generous. You can get a free nights stay at one of the hotels for as little at 2,000 points which equates into $2,000 charged on the Starwood AMEX. I have used the card since 1999 and my family and I have had several free vacations because of the free nights. This is a card that is well worth using.

Great rewards card from AMEX !!!!!
The Starwood card from AMEX lets you earn Starpoints which can be used for free stays at Sheraton and its partner hotels worldwide.
You can also transfer Starpoints to most frequent flyer programs at the rate of 1 Starpoint for 1 Airline mile. Once you earn 20,000 Starpoints, Starwood automatically adds 5,000 points to give you the 25,000 points/miles needed to get a free ticket. It's like getting 1.25 miles per dollar instead of the usual 1 mile for every dollar.
There is no annual fee the first year, but it's $30/yr. after that. Starpoints never expire if you use the card and/or stay at the hotels at least once a year.
