Gas rebate credit cards and gas cash back credit cards have gotten an increased popularity among users as gas prices rise. Rewards may come in a form of gift cards, discount certificates or simply checks for the amount of collected points converted into their money equivalent.
How much can I save on gas? Depending on the offer which may range from 1% - 6% and current gas prices one will be able to save up-to $.30 per gallon, especially during the increased or doubled rebates offered for a limited time (usually two or three month after the sign up). During that period anybody who uses their gas card will receive up to $.30 per gallon back per amount purchased. An example of such offer is Chase’s BP Visa® Rewards Card which gives you 10% back on your first two months of gas purchases and 5% after that. However, you will need very good credit to get accepted for that card or the Discover® Open Road Gas Card which offers a similar program which rewards you 5% back on gas and auto maintenance.
Instant rewards gas cards Some banks may give instant rewards for signing up and using their gas credit cards. Chase Freedom Credit Card gives the user a $50 check after the first purchas on the card and offers 3% rebates on the top three things you spend money on, which could be gas, groceries, internet bills, and much more. You will need excellent credit to get accepted for this card. Most of the gas credit cards on FindaCrditSolution also include an option of transferring balance for a low or even 0% APR for the length of the intro period.
What if I have average credit? Applying for a gas credit card is in no way different from applying for a regular credit card, but make sure that you know your credit score before you apply. As stated above, some gas cards are for people with very good or excellent credit. If you have average and not perfect credit, the TrueEarnings Card from Costco and American Express may be the card for you. It gives 3% cash back on gas, and there is no limit to the amount of rebates you can get. However, you must sign up for a Costco membership to avoid paying the annual fee.
Using rebate gas credit card or cash back gas credit cards makes sense only if the balance is paid off at the end of each month, since if it is not paid off you may owe more in interest accumulated than in the rewards points you earned. But if you pay off in full each month, you will lose no money to interest.
Other ways to save on gas: Speeding, rapid acceleration, and braking waste gasoline. On the highway it can lower your gas mileage by 33 percent. If someone were to translate it into the money equivalent of gas savings it would come close to $0.15-$0.96/gallon (WOW!).
These days many vehicles are equipped with fuel economy displays. They give you a chance to see whether the speed you are cruising with is the best speed for your vehicle to save on gas. Usually gas mileage rapidly decreases at speeds above 60 mph. Take a note of the less, but still, important rules that will save you some money, as well. Idling gives you 0 miles per gallon, the worst of all. Avoid it. Cruise control will keep you within the efficient speed limit. Bike or walk to close places. Or buy a horse.

Ok this article helped sort out the gas credit cards; but buying a horse to travel as an alternative? I don't think so.
